TAMPA BAY, FL: Before the Christmas break, the Cavaliers traveled to the University of Tampa for two games before the New Year begins. Facing #8 University of Tampa and Nova Southeastern University, the Maroon and Gold fought hard but lost both. Against the Spartans on Monday, a tough second quarter proved to be the difference against the eighth ranked team in the nation. The Cavaliers only scored 4 points in that period.
The match up against the Sharks from Nova Southeastern was an overtime battle. The Cavs started the game firing on all cylinders shooting 5-8 from 3 and 62.5% from the field. The Sharks went on to score 25 in the second quarter, going in with the lead, 44-39. The final 20 minutes were back and forth, but thanks to an
Alycia Triplett layup, the game went to overtime tied at 67. The extra time was all Sharks as Walsh was outscored 8-3.
The Maroon and Gold will return the the hardwood on January 4th at Ursuline. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm
