MIDLAND, MI: On another rainy and cold game day, the softball team traveled to Northwood to wrap up the rest of Great Midwest play with an afternoon doubleheader vs the Timberwolves. These games were crucial as the Cavs were battling to try and earn a spot in the conference tournament. The Maroon and Gold found themselves with early leads in both games but big fourth and fifth innings in each game from the home team proved to be the difference maker. Walsh's comeback efforts fell just short as Northwood swept the Cavs. The G-MAC takes the top eight teams and the Walsh Cavaliers, unfortunately, finished ninth, one game out of eighth places. Great improvements were made by the team this year as they finished 12-12 in the conference and gaining wins vs teams they haven't beaten in years. They were much improved as last year they ended 7-15 in the G-MAC.
The women will finish off their season, at home, vs Salem University this week. Date and time is TBA due to weather.
