CAVS TAKE ON NORTHWOOD ON SENIOR DAY

NORTH CANTON, OH - In an emotional Senior Day matchup, the Walsh University Cavaliers (17-12, 10-6 G-MAC) fell to the Northwood Timberwolves (21-7, 12-3 G-MAC) in a hard-fought four-set battle (25-12, 20-25, 20-25, 19-25) on Saturday afternoon.

The Cavaliers came out strong in the first set, dominating with a .536 hitting percentage and taking the set 25-12. However, Northwood regrouped and showed their resilience, winning the next three sets to claim the victory.

Walsh's seniors led the charge in their final home game. Sydney Dixon had a stellar performance with 14 kills and 15 digs, while senior setter Jayme Zoeckler orchestrated the offense with 36 assists and added 10 digs. Junior Sammie DiBease matched Dixon's kill total with 14 of her own.

Northwood's offense was led by Kiana Martens with 17 kills, while Sydney Hasenfratz added 14 kills and 2 blocks. Setter Renee Brines distributed 49 assists, and libero Sophia Oakes anchored the defense with 20 digs.The match was a defensive battle, with both teams recording over 60 digs. Walsh's Arora Levengood led all players with 19 digs, while Northwood's Oakes and Olivia Ott combined for 38 digs.

Despite the loss, Walsh showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in the first set where they hit an impressive .536. However, Northwood's adjustments and consistent play proved too much for the Cavaliers to overcome.The defeat drops Walsh to 17-12 overall and 10-6 in G-MAC play, while Northwood improves to 21-7 and 12-3 in conference action.

As the regular season comes to a close, Walsh will look to build on their strong performance and carry momentum into the upcoming G-MAC tournament.
