CAVS GET CLOSE WIN BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK

NORTH CANTON, OH - The Walsh University women's basketball team secured a thrilling 63-60 victory over the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds in a closely contested match at Alumni Arena on December 21st. This win improved Walsh's record to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in G-MAC play, while UIndy fell to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in GLVC competition.

The Cavaliers started strong, taking a 19-16 lead after the first quarter. The game remained tight throughout, with the lead changing hands nine times and the score being tied on seven occasions. Walsh's balanced attack and strong bench play proved to be the difference in the end.

Mallory Oddo led the Cavaliers with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing an impressive 16 rebounds. Caroline Guy provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, including two crucial three-pointers. Gracie Rakosky also contributed significantly with 11 points.

For UIndy, Patricia Chikamba had a standout performance with 26 points and 7 rebounds, while Jaelynne Murray added 14 points. However, their efforts weren't enough to overcome Walsh's team effort.

Walsh's bench outscored UIndy's reserves 39-3, which proved to be a key factor in the victory. The Cavaliers also dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Greyhounds 40-30.

This win gives Walsh momentum as they head into the holiday break. The Cavaliers will return to action on January 2, 2025, when they travel to face Thomas More University in Crestview Hills, KY at 5:30 P.M. This matchup will be an important opportunity for Walsh to continue their winning ways as they enter the new year.
