NORTH CANTON, OH: The Cavaliers hosted the 60
th Annual Mayor's Cup against Malone in Alumni Arena on Saturday. Walsh entered the game in first place in the G-MAC standings and riding high after a thrilling victory on Thursday against Ashland.
The Cavaliers started the game off well, going up by five after the first 8 minutes of action. Malone went on a run of their own, led by Simon Blair who would score a game high 23 for the Pioneers. The half ended with the maroon and gold trailing by 7 with a score of 32-25.
Walsh started off the second half on another run of their own to cut the Pioneer lead to 2 with 14:28 remaining. This would be as close as the Cavs would get as Malone's offense could not be stopped. Despite 22 points and 7 rebounds from
Garrison Keeslar, The Cavs would lose the Mayor's Cup by a final score of 67-57.
Walsh will look to rebound back at home on Thursday against Trevecca Nazarene. This game will be at 7:30 in Alumni Arena.
