INDIANAPOLIS, IN: The Walsh Men's Basketball season ended Saturday afternoon as they fell to #6 Lake Superior State University in the NCAA Midwest Quarterfinal. The Cavs were in the drivers seat for most of the game and took a seven point lead into the locker room at half time. Lake Superior State never backed down. The Maroon and Gold kept control early in the second half, leading by nine but Lake Superior cut it to one at the 14:57 mark.
Zack Oddo and
Kobe Mitchell facilitated on offense building back a 13 point Cavalier lead with 7 minutes to play. LSSU erased the biggest the deficit of the day in a matter of three minutes. With 2:47 to go, the Lakers repossessed the lead, 71-70. The last bucket of the season was scored at the 2:17 mark, with a
Zack Oddo layup.
Down the final stretch, Walsh was 0 for 3 with two missed three's and a missed tip in layup. The Cavs season ends with a final record of 24-6 and 15-5 in the G-MAC.
Lake Superior State moves on to play in the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal on Sunday.
