CAVALIERS ADVANCE TO G-MAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

NORTH CANTON, OH: The 2nd-seeded Cavalier Men's Basketball team entered the Semifinal Round of the G-MAC Tournament as they prepared to take on the 3rd-seeded Cedarville Yellowjackets. They won their quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday against Trevecca Nazarene after they clinched a share of the regular season G-MAC title on Saturday.

Walsh started the game slow, going down 12-6 in the first 6 minutes of the game. G-MAC Player of the Year, Jayvon Maughmer, led the Yellowjackets to the early lead and would go on to finish with a game-high 24 points. Walsh would hang around with the help of Kobe Mitchell, who hit 3 three-pointers in the half and finished the game with a team-high 20 points. By the end of the half, Cedarville had an 8 point lead with a score of 38-30.

The Cavaliers mounted a slow comeback in the second half, shooting 55.17% from the field and 46.15% from beyond the arc. Garrison Keeslar finished the game with 18 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds to help the Cavs in the comeback. By the 12:27 mark, Walsh tied the game at 49 a piece and had regained all the momentum. A few buckets from Zack Oddo and Aiden Satterfield down the stretch helped them pull away. The Maroon and Gold scored 51 points in the second half alone to outscore Cedarville by 15. Ultimately, Walsh would come away with an 81-74 victory to advance to the Championship Game.

The Cavs will take on Thomas More in the Championship game of the G-MAC Tournament. Thomas More won their match-up over Tiffin in the second Semifinal game. The Championship game will take place tomorrow, back inside Alumni Arena with tip-off set for 3 PM.
