GRIMM RECORDS 5 HITS AS SOFTBALL SPLITS AT WHEELING

WHEELING, WV: The Cavaliers are finally getting games in this season as they traveled to Wheeling University to play their 4th doubleheader in 5 days. The Maroon and Gold scored 11 runs combined in the series split. Riley Grimm totaled five hits to lead the Walsh offense.

In game one, it was all Wheeling early as the Cavs found themselves down, 6-0 after 3 innings. Walsh would go on to score five unanswered runs, 1 in the 4th and 4 in the 7th. Although the bats came to life, the women fell short, 6-5.

Walsh got revenge in game 2 as freshman pitcher, Chloe Sayer, threw a gem, going all 7 innings and allowing just 1 run. The offensive efforts by the Cavs complimented the defensive efforts as Walsh recorded 12 hits. Riley Grimm had 2 doubles, Sarah Cantley and Laney Ferrance each tripled, and Emma Kelley homered!

The Cavaliers will return to G-MAC play this weekend as they head west to Tiffin and the University of Findlay.
