NORTH CANTON, OH: The first G-MAC Quarterfinal contest on Larry Staudt Field was a thrilling one. Earning the #4 seed, Walsh hosted their first quarterfinal game in program history, against the #5 seed Wheeling University Cardinals. Previously defeating the Cardinals on March 16th, the visiting team came out for revenge, outscoring the Cavs, 5-1. Slowly, the Maroon and Gold chipped away, cutting the deficit in half, down 6-3.
After an offensive reset, the Cavs scored 7 goals including the game tying goal by
Cameron Gregory with 4 seconds to go in regulation to send it to overtime. That late goal sent the tournament game to overtime, which was sudden death.
It didn't take Walsh long as Senior,
Colby Bowman, found the back of the net, 38 seconds in to the extra time to lift the home team! He scored 5 of the Cavs 11 goals in the quarterfinal match up and also became the programs all time points leader.
The Maroon and Gold will head to Merchurst University on Wednesday for a 4pm semifinal game!
