FOOTBALL EARNS 6TH WIN OF SEASON VS THOMAS MORE

NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh Football team returned home on Saturday to take on the Thomas More University Saints in another Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest. The Cavaliers were looking to secure their 6th win of the year, which also would be a program record in the NCAA era.

The first quarter was a bit rocky for the Maroon and Gold as Thomas More blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown just one minute into the game. The Saints then got two more takeaways from the Cavs during the next two possessions. No harm was done as the Walsh defense stepped up.

The Cavs eventually settled in, scoring 21 points in the 2nd quarter, taking a 21-17 lead into the break. It was all Walsh the rest of the afternoon as both sides of the ball contributed in the scoring efforts. Arguably the play of the game was when Michael Howman Williams forced a fumble which was then scooped up and scored by Eddie Nichols. He returned it 90 yards to push the score to 35-17. Two more field goals would round out the scoring for Walsh as they secured the history making victory, 41-20.

The Cavs will travel to Ashland on Saturday, November 1st. Kick off is set for 1pm.

LOCATION: Larry Staudt Field
SCORE: Walsh 41 - Thomas More 20
RECORDS: Walsh 6-2 (4-2), Thomas More 0-8 (0-6)
