12/17/2025 2:19:00 PM

NORTH CANTON, OH: Head Coach, John Fankhauser, is excited to announce the signing of wide receiver, Zach Bucklew, to the Cavalier Football program. Zach is a fourth grader from Uniontown, Ohio and will wear #18 for Walsh.

Through a partnership with Team IMPACT, Zach signed with the Maroon and Gold after attending many games, practices, and having an official visit with the team and coaches this fall. Against Northwood, Zach led the team onto the field in front of a packed house at Larry Staudt Field.

Coach Fankhauser said, "We are excited to add Zach to our football program as he is a strong young man who will immediately impact the success of our program. Zach is the type of Student-Athlete that we look for here at Walsh University and we can't wait to see him wear the Maroon and Gold."

Off of the field, Zach enjoys playing video games and watching sports. His favorite NFL player is Justin Jefferson.

Team IMPACT matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved. The  unique multiyear program signs children onto  teams across the country, and based on a clinical model, ensures each has the personalized game plan they need to win. Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience. A program built on
strength and camaraderie, Team IMPACT ensures kids develop socially and never feel alone. We truly believe in getting all kids in the game.

In January, 2025, Zach was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
