FINDLAY, OH: Beating a conference opponent once is one thing but beating a conference opponent twice, a week apart, is even better. The Walsh Men's Basketball team did just that as they downed the Oilers of the University of Findlay this evening. The Cavs defeated the Oilers, in overtime, last Thursday, in Alumni Arena.
This game was very similar to the last contest, not with just Walsh winning, but the entire flow of the game. The Cavs earned a 10 point lead heading into the halftime break but as they know, a ten point lead is not enough to pack the bags and head home. In the second half, Walsh kept their foot on the gas, gaining a 14 point advantage, until Findlay quickly cut that deficit to just one point at the 15 minute mark. Last week, Walsh was up by as much as 17 until Findlay tied it forcing the game to extra time. This week, the Men never lost the lead, quickly responding and going on runs to build back a 5 to 7 point cushion, giving them the edge by the end of the game.
The Cavs are now 8-2 vs the Oilers in the last ten match ups. The Men are also in first place in the G-MAC standings.
Walsh will have one more contest this calendar year when the welcome Bryant and Stratton to Alumni Arena on 12/30.
