Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MEN START G-MAC PLAY WITH OVERTIME WIN

PAINESVILLE, OH: The Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener was nothing unexpected as the Walsh Cavaliers traveled to Lake Erie College on Thursday night. The G-MAC is always tough and this contest was nothing short of fast paced, single possession focused hoops. The Maroon and Gold entered the contest unbeaten, looking to earn their sixth win of the season. Lake Erie entered 5-1.

Walsh opened up the first half, very cold from three, going 1 for 10. Fortunately, efficient shooting from inside the arc, kept the Men afloat, down just one point at the mid game break. The second half held the same theme, but the script flipped as Lake Erie only made two threes to Walsh's four in the last 20 minutes. The Cavs built a lead, as much as nine points towards the eight minute mark, but that quickly diminished as the Storm used their quick pace of play to cut the deficit. With 11 lead changes total, the final stretch of the game was tight. Down three with 29 second left, Kobe Mitchell tied it up at 79. Shots by both parties missed at the end, taking the game to overtime.

Overtime was all Cavaliers as they outscored Lake Erie, 14-9. An 8-0 run out of the gate and then nine made free throws was key in the extra time as the Men earned their sixth win of the year.

The Maroon and Gold will continue G-MAC play, at home, on Saturday, 12/6. Tip off is set for 3pm.
