MIDLAND, MI: The Walsh University softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against Northwood University on Saturday at Fisher Stadium. The Cavaliers were shut out 8-0 in the first game before dropping a close one, 2-1, in the second game.

The Cavaliers managed just three hits, with Hannah Pfundt and Porter Gregory each collecting one. Northwood's offense exploded for eight runs in the second inning, highlighted by doubles from Delanie Gale and Saylar Cuthrell. Chloe Sayre took the loss for Walsh, allowing seven runs in the first inning.
The second game was a closely contested affair that went into extra innings. Walsh took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Danielle Stewart's RBI single. However, Northwood tied it in the seventh on Payton Schafsnit's sacrifice fly and won it in the eighth on Ashley Ziel's walk-off single. Lindsey Leeds pitched five scoreless innings for Walsh before Maci Smythe took the loss in relief.
With the losses, Walsh falls to 4-13 on the season while Northwood improves to 12-7. The Cavaliers will look to bounce back when they host Ashland University for a doubleheader on Friday.
