NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh University softball team hosted Kentucky Wesleyan for a doubleheader at the WU Softball Complex on Sunday, March 23, 2025. The Cavaliers swept both games, improving their record to 7-14 (2-4) while Kentucky Wesleyan fell to 4-22 (0-6).
The first game saw Walsh come out on top 4-1. The Cavaliers took an early lead in the first inning and extended it with two runs in the fourth. Kentucky Wesleyan managed to score one run in the fifth, but Walsh responded with another run in the sixth to secure the win. Maci Smythe earned the victory, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run on five hits.
In the second game, Walsh secured a 3-0 victory behind a stellar pitching performance from Chloe Sayre. The Cavaliers scored early with two runs in the first inning and added an insurance run in the fourth. Sayre threw a complete game shutout, allowing only three hits while striking out three.
