NORTH CANTON, OH: On Senior Day, Walsh Women's Lacrosse not just celebrated their 8 successful seniors, they also celebrated a 6 goal victory over their rival, the University of Findlay. The Cavs and Oilers rivalry goes back a few years as both teams have seen success in the G-MAC but have also met for many years the the Great Midwest Championship game, with the Maroon and Gold winning the past 4 championship match ups! Walsh has now won the past 8 games vs Findlay.
The first period, both teams looked to find their grove. After 1, it was knotted up at 1 goal each. After that, the Cavs went on an offensive tear, tallying 6 goals in the second, rolling into half with a 7-3 lead. The visiting Oilers did not go away easy, outscoring Walsh 3-0 in the 3rd, cutting the deficit to 1. That was close enough for the 8 seniors and the rest of the Cavs as the final 15 minutes was all Walsh as they scoring 5 goals on the way to securing the win.
Walsh will take the 2 conference wins this week and look to Lake Erie, their next opponent. The Cavs play at Lake Erie on Thursday, at 5pm!
