NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh University baseball team hosted the Malone University Pioneers in the conclusion of their four game series that started last week. The Cavaliers completed the series sweep by winning both games of the doubleheader on Tuesday.
In the first game, Walsh edged Malone 3-2 in a dramatic seventh-inning finish. Malone took leads in the fifth and sixth innings, but the Cavaliers responded each time, including an unearned run in the sixth. Brandon Cahill (5-3) earned the win with a scoreless seventh inning, while Brodey Acres delivered the walk-off RBI single to secure the victory.
The second game featured a strong offensive performance from Walsh, who defeated Malone 8-2. Malone opened with a two-run homer in the first, but Walsh quickly tied the game and took the lead with timely hits. The Cavaliers broke the game open in the seventh inning with back-to-back home runs from Brodey Acres and Cam Hollobaugh. Martin Polonkay (2-5) pitched six solid innings to earn the win.
These wins wrapped up the series that began on April 17th, where Walsh also swept Malone in a doubleheader, showing consistent strength throughout the series.
