WALSH DOMINATES KENTUCKY WESLEYAN IN OWENSBORO

Box Score OWENSBORO, KY: The 2025 G-MAC opener was no problem for the now 3-0 Walsh Cavalier Football team. In the farthest road trip of the year, the Cavs got off to a quick start, scoring 14 points in the opening quarter and never looked back. Both sides of the ball were all over the Panthers as the Maroon and Gold shut out the home team until the final 31 seconds of the game. 

The efforts of both the offense and defense seem to be the theme for the Cavs as they will return home for Maroon and Gold Weekend with the best start in the programs recent history. 

Quarterback, Hayden Wickard, once again composed the offense in the third straight game of scoring over 30 points. His dual threat abilities accounted for 4 Cavalier touchdowns, two in the air and two on the ground. He totaled 124 passing yards and led the rush attack with 65 yards. 

Jake Gill also continued his rushing efforts with 65 yards on the turf. 

Defensively, Ryan Page and Kyler Larosa had 6 tackles each while Eddie Nichols, Luke Dobbins, and Michael Howman Williams all had 5. Dobbins was key for the defense with 1 forced fumble and 1 interception. 

The Maroon and Gold homecoming game will kick off at 4pm on Saturday, September 27th, on Larry Staudt Field.

FOR THE CAVS 
  • Hayden Wickard was 9 for 23 with 124 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He added 2 touchdowns on the ground.
  • Jake Gill had 65 rushing yards on 13 carries. 
  • William Butler and Trey Martin each snagged a touchdown pass. Martin's was a 27 yarder while Butler's was 15. 
  • Kicker, Jarrad Kerekes nailed a 44 yard field goal at the end of the first half to give Walsh a 17-0 lead. 
  • Defensive efforts were well balanced with Ryan Page and Kyler Larosa earning 6 total tackles each. 
  • Chris Jones had 3 solo tackles including 2 tackles for loss
