NORTH CANTON, OH: The Walsh Men's Basketball team fell in a high scoring battle to the Lake Erie Storm on Thursday evening. The game was expected to be a good one as Walsh defeated the Storm, in overtime, in December.
The Maroon and Gold started strong, winning the opening tip and scoring right away. The Cavs built a 9 point lead twice through out the first half but the Storm continued to battle, chipping away. Eventually, Lake Erie's gritty efforts earned them the lead. In no time, the visitors were up by as much as 6.
From the halftime break, it was all Lake Erie as Walsh could not seem to get a stop on the defensive side of the floor. The Storm built a 14 point lead and never looked back. The deficit hung around 8-10 points until the final buzzer sounded.
Despite the loss, the Cavaliers sit atop the Great Midwest rankings at 17-3 (11-3). Walsh will look to bounce back on Saturday, at 3pm, vs the Northwood Timberwolves.
