Two-Time G-MAC Player of the Year Sha Carter Earns Spot on Phoenix Mercury Opening-Day Roster

INDIANAPOLIS- Two-time Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year Sha Carter has officially earned a place on the opening-day roster for the Phoenix Mercury, completing an impressive rise from Division II standout to the WNBA.

The Mercury finalized their roster ahead of the 2026 WNBA season opener, and Carter was among the guards who secured a roster spot entering opening weekend.

Carter built her reputation as one of the nation's most dynamic scorers during her collegiate career. Before transferring to Florida Gulf Coast University, she starred at Walsh University for four years, where she captured back-to-back G-MAC Player of the Year honors and established herself as one of the top players in Division II women's basketball.

The Mercury enter the 2026 season with championship aspirations led by veteran stars including Kahleah Copper, Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner. Carter now joins a talented backcourt group looking to provide depth and production during the long WNBA season.

According to the Mercury's official roster and multiple league roster listings, Carter is listed as a 6-foot guard and enters the season as a rookie.
