NORTH CANTON, OH: On Tuesday morning, the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Sports Medicine athletic trainers and the North Canton Fire Department participated in a joint training prior to the start of preseason athletic camps as the 2026-2027 school year is quickly approaching.
The joint training session included scenarios responding to cardiac arrest, heat illness, and suspected cervical spine injury with athletic equipment.
"Great teams train all season long to be prepared for the big game. Today, our team of medical professionals trained to be ready to support and care for athletes in emergency situations. The hands-on scenarios allowed us to strengthen communication, coordination, and response as streamlined team work is critical to ensure the best outcomes. Every second counts," said long time Walsh athletic trainer
Angela Heintz.
We thank all our athletic trainers and first responders as they provide the best care for our Student-Athletes and community.
