NORTH CANTON, OH: Cav Men's Soccer fell to Purdue Northwest 3-2 on Saturday at Larry Staudt Field. The Cavaliers trailed by three goals in the second half before making a late comeback.
Purdue Northwest opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Landon Potts found the back of the net off an assist from Nikola Ivetic. Potts scored again in the 19th minute, giving Purdue Northwest a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Walsh had chances in the first half, finishing with six shots and four corner kicks, but was unable to get on the board.
Purdue Northwest added another goal in the 67th minute when Juan Martin Jersonsky scored off an assist from Brandon Young, extending the lead to 3-0.
The Cavaliers did not go away easy as they scored late in the second half.
Kostas Paxos scored Walsh's first goal in the 79th minute, cutting the lead to 3-1. Paxos found the back of the net again in the 88th minute to bring Walsh within one at 3-2.
Walsh continued to push for the tying goal in the final minutes, but Purdue Northwest held on for the win. The Cavaliers finished with 13 shots, including eight on goal, and held an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks.
The Men will take the field again on Tuesday, 9/8, at Ohio Dominican.
