David Salter was named Head Coach for the Walsh Men's Lacrosse program in the summer of 2023. During his time at Walsh, he has taken the program to new heights, leading the Maroon and Gold to their first ever G-MAC Playoff win and in 2025, leading the team to their first conference championship game appearance.
Salter also tied the program record in wins and win percentage in year one and in year two, led the team to a program best 6-3 conference record and 10-8 overall record.
Coach Salter has helped earn many Cavaliers All-Conference honors as well as record breaking performances.
In 2024, Joe Rush earned G-MAC Specialist of the Year and All-Region honors. Colby Bowman, Joe Rush, and Mikey Sawulak were All-Conference with Matthew Bagatta winning the Elite 26 award! Colby Bowman also set many offensive records under Salter's leadership during the 2024 season.
In 2025, James Sternberg was Honorable Mention All-American and All-Region Attack along with his First Team G-MAC honors. Mike Sawulak made Second Team All-Conference.
Prior to Walsh, Coach Salter spent 7 years as an assistant with various stops. After his first two years with Mercyhurst North East, Salter went to Piedmont University where he helped the program capture their first USA South Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Following Piedmont, Salter spent three years at Division II Lander University as an assistant. During his three years there, Lander compiled a 30-14 record, including an 11-4 conference record, and helped guide the program to their first ever PBC regular season title and PBC tournament championship. In his 7 years as an assistant, Salter has coached over 20 All-Conference players, 5 All-Region players, and 1 All-American.
Native of Mount Airy, Maryland, Salter played college lacrosse at Howard Community College and Belmont Abbey College. He graduated from Belmont Abbey with a Bachelors in Business Management and received his Masters in Organizational Leadership from Mercyhurst University. He has competed in the World Lacrosse Championships and the European Lacrosse Championship.
In taking the reigns at Walsh University, Coach Salter hopes to establish a winning identity to the program.
