Biography

2023-2024: 13.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 53 threes (34.2%), free throw percentage 84.9%, 0.9 assists per game, second team all PSAC west

2022-2023: As a junior in 2022-23, Peyton Alazaus finished as Pitt-Johnstown’s second-leading scorer (14.5 ppg.) and second-leading rebounder (4.7 rpg.). She also paced the Mountain Cats in 3-pointers with 73, was second in free-throw percentage (81.4%), and was third in assists. In the PSAC, Alazaus ranked third in 3-pointers made (73) and 3-pointers per game (2.43) and was sixth in 3-point percentage (32.9%). Nationally, she was 35th in 3-pointers made, 44th in 3-pointer per game, and 93rd in 3-point percentage. Alazaus, a 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Basketball Academic All-Region Team selection, scored in double figures 22 time and pulled down five or more rebounds 15 times. Alazaus enters 2023-24 253 points shy reaching the 1,000-point-mark in just her third season at Pitt-Johnstown.

Alazaus has single-game highs of 32 points at Seton Hill University on Jan. 18, 2023 and 11 rebounds at Slippery Rock University on Feb. 25, 2023. She also had five against Alderson Broaddus (WV) University on Nov. 12, 2022 and five assists at Malone (OH) University on Nov. 19, 2022.

2021-2022: Alazaus made her Pitt-Johnstown debut after COVID-19 canceled the 2020-21 season. Alazaus started all 30 games and finished as Pitt-Johnstown’s second-leading scorer at 10.4 points per game. Her 70 3-pointers were third best in the PSAC and ranked 36th in NCAA Division II. She also ranked fourth in the PSAC and 60th nationally in 3-point field goals per game (2.33) and sixth in the PSAC and 85th in the country in 3-point field goal percentage (35.0%, 70-200). In addition, Alazaus averaged 3.4 rebounds per game, had 20 assists, 18 steals, and two blocked shots as a freshman. She scored in double figures 17 times.

High School: Alazaus was a four-year letter-winner in both basketball and softball at West Branch High School. Alazaus, who holds her high school’s record for 3-pointers in a game (7), season (69), and career (180), was named the Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) Player of the Year and an All-Ohio Division II Special Mention in 2020. She was also a WKBN-TV Starting 5 selection, an Alliance Review Player of the Week choice, and a WY-TV Student of the Week selection.

Alazaus helped lead her team to a 91-14 overall record, an Ohio Division II State Final Four Championship in 2020, a State Sweet-16 appearance in 2018 and a spot in the Ohio State Elite 8 in 2017. Her team also captured Ohio District Championships and conference titles in 2017, 2018, and 2020.
