Brett Holt

Brett Holt joined the Cavs as Head Coach in 2023. In just two seasons, Holt has taken Walsh Volleyball to new heights. He has compiled a 43-18 overall record with a 26-9 record in G-MAC conference play. Under Coach Holt, 10 Cavaliers have been named all-conference and 6 have broken school records. His first two squads both have been awarded the AVCA Academic Team Scholar Award for their dedication in the classroom.

After a historic first season in 2023, Coach Holt was named G-MAC Coach of the Year while leading the program to a North Division Regular Season Co-Championship. The Cavs finished 25-6, and cracked the NCAA Midwest Regional Ranking as well as the AVCA National Coaches Poll rankings for the first time in program history. He coached 6 all-conference selections, including Keanna Avery, who was named to the first team. Arora Levengood, Sydney Dixon, Anna West, Sammie DiBease, and Grace Lindquist were named to the second team.

In 2024, his second season, the Cavs finished with 18 wins and qualified for the G-MAC post season tournament, upsetting the #3 seed Ashland, and making it to the semi-finals. On October 10th at rival Malone, Coach Holt secured his 200th career victory with a sweep of Pioneers. Five Cavaliers earned G-MAC post season honors, including 3 first team selections (Anna West, Arora Levengood, Sammie DiBease) and 1 second team (Sydney Dixon).

Prior to Walsh, Coach Holt led the Missouri Valley College women’s program from 2012-2017 to an overall record of 149-67, producing three NAIA All-Americans, five AVCA All-Midwest Region selections, 42 Heart of America Athletic Conference student-athletes, one conference Player of the Year, three conference Freshman/Newcomers of the Year, and two conference Defensive Players of the Year. In 2017, the program finished with a 33-11 overall record, won the Heart of America Athletic Conference South Division and secured the school’s first appearance in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship. The program produced five-straight seasons of 20 or more wins, from 2013-2017.

In 2019, he assisted Otterbein University to a runner-up finish in the OAC tournament and run to the NCAA D3 women’s volleyball Round of 32. The Cardinals finished the season with a 26-7 record. Holt mentioned, "I hope to continue the strong traditions of Walsh University and bring a competitive energy to lead Walsh Volleyball to the next level." Holt is a 2001 graduate of The Ohio State University and received his Master’s degree in Sport and Business Administration from the University of Central Missouri in 2013. He was born and raised in nearby Holmes County and currently resides in North Canton with his 4 year old Shih-poo, Barkley
