Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) Behind Kelsey Funderburgh's (5-7, Jr., North Lewisburg, OH/Triad/Morehead State) game-high 29 points Walsh improved to 4-0 with a 93-68 non-conference win over Clarion University (1-4) at Alumni Arena. Walsh returns to the hardwood on Saturday for a non-conference game at home with Ohio Christian University at 1 pm.
Walsh trailed 15-12 when Funderburgh got rolling at the 10:20 mark. She hit a three-pointer, and was fouled on the play to give the Cavs a 16-15 lead at 9:14. She then hit a jumper, and four straight free throws to give the Cavs a 22-17 lead at 7:14.
The Cavs would then take control of the contest with a 14-0 run to lead 32-17 with 3:40 left in the half.
Funderburgh scored 19 first half points as Walsh led 37-26 at the break.
The lead was never under double digits in the second half as Walsh improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2009-10.
Walsh shot 60% on 22-37 in the second half and led by as 30 points (84-54) with 3:35 to play.
Funderburgh finished 9-14 from the field and 6-10 from three-point range. She was also 5-5 from the line, had five rebounds and three assists.
Brittni Clopton (5-11, Fr., Fort Wayne, IN/South Side) played another strong game with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. She was 5-7 from the field.
Allison Butler (5-5, Fr., Fort Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers) added 12 points off the bench and Jalynn Graham (5-5, So., Columbus, OH/Central Crossing) had 10 points and nine rebounds. Brooklyn Wooten (5-8, So., Grove City, OH/Central Crossing) dished out five assists.
Walsh out rebounded Clarion 49-33 and held the Golden Eagles to just 37% from the floor.
Tania Holmes led Clarion with 21 points.
