Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) Jesse Hardin Jr. (6-2, Jr., Warren, OH/Harding) scored 10 of Walsh's (10-7, 6-7) final 12 points in a 76-69 come-from-behind Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over the University of Findlay (8-9, 5-8) at Alumni Arena. The win, the fifth straight for Walsh, keeps them in a second place tie in the GLIAC South with Malone University. The Cavs start a three-game road trip on Saturday at Wayne State (3 pm), and then play at Malone University on Monday (8 pm). Both games will be broadcast live on WNPQ FM 95.9
Walsh shot 56% from the floor in the first half and led 37-29 at the break. The Cavs held Findlay to just 38% on 11-29 and led by as many as 11 points.
The Oilers came out firing in the second half, and tied the game at 49-all on a Dylan Kauffman three, and then took a 51-49 lead with 12:05 to go on a layup from Ricardo Smith.
Walsh would rally, and build the lead back to six points at 63-57 with 7:21 to play when the Oilers scored seven straight points to take a 64-63 lead with 5:48 to play.
Findlay led 66-64 with 3:44 left when Hardin Jr. put the Cavs on his back. He hit a three with 2:36 to play to give Walsh a 67-66 lead, followed that with another three, and a layup to put the Cavs up 72-66 with 1:06 left.
Dylan Kauffman pulled the Oilers to with a three points at 72-69 with a three-point play with 53 seconds left, but the Cavs iced the game from the line with four free throws, two from Rian Burrell (6-3, Jr., Zanesville, OH/HS) and two more from Hardin Jr.
Hardin Jr. finished with 29 points on 10-16 from the floor and 6-11 from three-point. He also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Trey Fletcher (6-6, So., Ironton, OH/HS) added 15 points on 7-11 from the field, and Zac Carter (5-9, So., Ironton, OH/HS) added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.
The Cavs shot 58% from the floor in the second half and 57% for the game on 28-49. They were 8-17 from three-point and out-rebounded Findlay 34-25.
The two teams meet in Findlay on February 29.
