Box Score (NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Walsh wrapped up play against the GLIAC North Division with an impressive 58-41 win over Ferris State at Alumni Arena Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers' (9-4, 6-2) stood tall once again as it forced the Bulldogs (3-11, 3-5) into the majority of their 28 turnovers with 17 steals.
The turnovers in turn helped Walsh on the opposite end as 25 of its points came off of Ferris State miscues.
The Cavaliers never trailed during the contest and led by as many as 22 late in the contest on two separate occasions after a pair of baskets by Dominique Foley. Kelsey Funderburgh led all scorers with 19 points as she was 8-of-17 from the field and added three steals.
Brittni Clopton was the only other Cavalier in double figures with 10 points. She recorded her second double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds, one shy of her career-high. Seven of those caroms came on the offensive end.
Alex Hochstedler and Brooklyn Wooten did well in distributing the ball as they finished with six and five assists, respectively. Jalynn Graham came up with five steals to lead Walsh defensively.
Walsh's defense did well in preventing Ferris State from taking many high-percentage shots during the game. As a result, the Bulldogs only had one player in double figures which was Joslyn Nicholson with 11 points. Overall, Ferris State shot just 31.3 percent from the field.
The Cavs are now 7-3 in their last 10 games and sets their focus to the GLIAC South Division. Walsh is first set to square off at undefeated Ashland on Thursday. Tip-off with the Eagles is set for 5:30 p.m. from Kates Gymnasium.
