Walsh Falls To Top-Ranked Ashland

Box Score

(ASHLAND, Ohio) – Walsh fell to the top-ranked team in the country and defending national champion Ashland by a score of 87-60 in its last game before Thanksgiving on Monday evening. The Cavaliers drop to 1-3 on the season while the Eagles improved to 4-0.

The Maroon and Gold stayed with Ashland for most of the first quarter and trailed just 15-11 after a Dominique Foley free throw with 3:17 left in the opening frame, but the hosts proceeded to go on an 11-2 run to close out the period.

That lead continued to grow in the second quarter as Walsh was held off the scoreboard until the 4:15 mark when Shelby Henkel broke the run with a layup.

Foley led the Cavaliers with 15 points with a pair of 3-pointers. Mayci Sales had her best game of her young career as she tallied 13 off the bench. She was 5-of-11 from the field and led Walsh with seven rebounds.

Laina Snyder led the Eagles with 24 points and was 9-for-17 from the field.

Walsh will return to action on Saturday when the Cavs head to Slippery Rock for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
