Walsh Falls At Hillsdale

(HILLSDALE, Mich.) – Walsh fell to Hillsdale by a score of 87-74 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped back to .500 at 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Hillsdale is now 5-3 and 3-1 in the same categories.

The Chargers led for the majority of the game, but Walsh did make a push in the second quarter and outscored the hosts 22-12. The Cavs then took the lead on a Dominique Foley layup on their first shot in the second half. That made the score 36-35, but Hillsdale outscored Walsh 29-15 the rest of the frame.

Rebounding hurt the Cavs as Hillsdale held a 45-26 advantage on the glass which led to a 19-7 advantage in second-chance points.

Alex Hochstedler paced the Cavaliers with 17 points and eight rebounds. Foley finished with 12 points. Tyler Newkirk pitched in 11 markers.

Brittany Gray led the hosts and proved difficult to stop with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Walsh will return home for one more game before Christmas break which takes place Thursday against Ohio Valley. The Cavs and Fighting Scots tip-off that day at 7:30 p.m.
