(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A late steal by Jalynn Graham and two free throws by Brooklyn Wooten in the final seconds helped Walsh defeat Hillsdale 71-68 in GLIAC action Thursday evening. The win was an important one for the Cavaliers (12-11, 8-8) as they moved back to .500, and, more importantly, take a 2.5-game lead over the Chargers (12-12, 6-11).

Walsh's win also puts them two games ahead of Findlay as they battle for the third and final guaranteed playoff spot awarded to the South Division.

Wooten hit a jumper with 1:40 to go to set the score at 69-68. Little did anyone know it would be the final field goal of the game. Walsh appeared to be in position to extend its lead, but not before a pair of steals in a matter of four seconds.

The Chargers' Makenna Ott stole the ball on the Cavaliers' end with 36 seconds to go and forced it out of bounds off a Walsh player. After play resumed, Graham swiped the in-bounds pass and a timeout was immediately called. Hillsdale then fouled with 10 seconds left to put Wooten at the line where she sank both attempts.

Wooten finished with a game-high 20 points off the bench as she went 7-of-13 from the field. She added eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals on the night as well.

Brittni Clopton was the remaining Cavalier in double-figures with 12 as she went 5-of-8 from the field with eight rebounds.

The Maroon and Gold will return to action on Saturday as it hosts Ohio Dominican. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
