Volleyball Splits Day, Goes 3-1 At Edinboro Tournament

(EDINBORO, Pa.) – Walsh split the day with a 3-1 loss to Bellarmine and a 3-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan at the Rebich Investments Invitational Tournament hosted by Edinboro University. The Cavaliers are now 3-1 to open up the season before returning home next week to host their own tournament.

The Cavs opened up the day with a 10 a.m. contest against Bellarmine and split the opening two sets, but eventually fell 25-17, 16-25, 25-14, 25-23 to the Knights who went undefeated on the weekend.

Paola Ferrario had an excellent game match with 17 kills. Lauren Loucks followed with 12 on just 27 attempts for a .370 kill percentage. Olivia Zanolli set up the offense with 43 assists in the opener. On the defensive end, Amanda Adoranti dug up 14 balls with Erica Schiets just behind her with 13. Loucks and Justine Coffman both added three blocks each on the front line.

The Maroon and Gold were able to rebound in dominating fashion against the Lady Bobcats in their tournament closer with set wins by scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.

Gina Kramer led the offense this time around with 10 kills on just 19 attempts. Coffman and Loucks both added seven each. Zanolli tallied 20 assists with Julianna Kruse getting some action with seven. Adoranti picked up an astounding 23 digs with Schiets and Hallie Schroeder both made 15 digs each in the match. Justine Coffman dominated the front line with eight blocks.

Ferrario and Zanolli were both named to the All-Tournament team. Walsh was one of three schools to have multiple players listed.

Walsh returns home to host its own Cavalier Classic Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Cavs will open with former conference rival Roberts Wesleyan and also host Fort Hays State, Seton Hill, and Pitt-Johnstown.
