Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers women's basketball team continued their pre-holiday homestand with a contest against the Tiffin Dragons on Wednesday (Dec. 16) night at Alumni Arena. Walsh set a new program record with 26 straight wins, surpassing the 2010-11 team's mark of 25 consecutive wins.

The short story: Two first half runs lifted the Cavaliers to a 3-0 start for the season. After trailing 4-3 two minutes in, Abby Hickey kickstarted an 8-0 Walsh run as the Cavaliers regained the lead and pushed the advantage to 11-4 with 4:44 left in the first period. Then Walsh went on a 10-0 run spanning the final 1:11 of the first quarter and 28 seconds of the second quarter. Sha Carter scored the final four points of the first before Megan Ball and Kimmie Borck opened the second quarter with back-to-back threes, giving Walsh a 27-11 lead. The Cavaliers led by as many as 31 in the fourth quarter, leading to the victory.
OPENING TIP
- Five players ended the contest in double figures for the second straight contest.
- Mayci Sales tallied her 17th career double-double and second consecutive double dip with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds (five offensive). The senior added a trio of assists, steals and blocks in 28 minutes.
- Megan Ball gave the Cavaliers 16 points (tying a career-high) and seven rebounds in 26 minutes on six-of-11 shooting and a pair of threes and free throws.
- Sha Carter added another notch to her double-digit scoring streak, which now sits at 43 consecutive games, after scoring 14 points with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- In a game-high 37 minutes, Kimmie Borck scored 13 points on four field goals (two threes) and three free throws.
- Hickey made a pair of threes in a ten point effort along with a career-high seven rebounds.
THE DIFFERENCE
- Walsh out-rebounded the Dragons 47-38 with the help of 15 offensive rebounds. The Cavaliers have grabbed at least 15 offensive boards in all three games this season. Six different players had at least one offensive rebound with four players having multiple offensive rebounds.
- Tiffin was limited to five three pointers in 24 attempts for a .208 clip. So far this season, opponents are shooting .179 (12-67) from deep.
- Tiffin turned the ball over 20 times, leading to 27 Walsh points.
- Walsh controlled the paint, scoring 40 points in the paint compared to 28 for the Dragons.
NOTABLE
- Walsh's 26 game winning streak covers 387 days since their 94-86 loss at Ashland last November.
- On top of the overall winning streak, the Cavaliers have won 27 straight home games and 30 consecutive conference games.
- Mayci Sales jumped to 14th on the all-time scoring list with 1,190 points. Sha Carter moved three spots to 16th all-time with 1,156 career points.
