11/19/2022 11:49:00 PM

KENOSHA, WISCONSIN- The Walsh University Cross Country teams continued their Fall success as they competed in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Tournament today in Wisconsin. The Regional event, hosted by Wisconsin Parkside, was run at Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross-Country Course in less than desirable conditions; below freezing temps, high winds and snow.

With the Cavaliers third place team finish, the Men have automatically qualified to compete in the National Championship for the fifth year in a row. With 118 total team points, the Cavalier men locked in their spot to head West to Seattle and represent the Cavaliers on the National stage. Another dominating performance by Zach Kreft during the 10k race would have him standing on top once again for the Cavs. Kreft left Wisconsin as the Midwest Regional Champion after crossing the finish line with a final race time of 30:45.33. Along with Kreft, teammates Nathan Moore and Julian Shrock also received All-Region honors for their Top 25 finishes.

Moore placed 7th overall with a final time of 30:58.65. Julian Shrock, placing 24th, crossed the line at 31:51.34. Also competing for the maroon and gold in Wisconsin was Drew Roberts, who placed 39th with a clocked time of 32:14.61. Crossing the line at 32:21.99 was freshman Noah Graham, who placed 47th overall.  Sophomore Mitchel Dunham placed 55th in the race after finishing with a time of 32:33.21. Rounding out the National bound Cavalier squad was sophomore Drew Monahan. Monahan finished the race in 68th place with a final time of 32:51.51.

The Women's team battled through the elements on Saturday to finish in 12th place overall. Bridget Hahn would pace the Cavalier women with a 28th place finish, just shy of all-region honors. Hahn clocked a final race time of 22:28.13 on the 6k track. Sophomore, Teja Young, fell just short of cracking the top 50 after coming in at 51st place overall with a run time of 22:58.47. Freshman, Claire Rethman was next to cross the line for the Cavaliers in 78th place with a race time of 23:21.45. The duo of Elly Heine and Camryn Barker crossed the line practically side by side as Heine finished in 81st and Barker in 82nd. Heine clocked in at 23:26.19 and Barker at 23:26.73. Rounding out the Cavalier lineup were Natalie Boyden and Izzy Rammel, who placed 86th and 119th overall. Boyden crossed with a final time of 23:30.50 and Rammel closed out the Fall season with a final time of 24:03.98.
