KNIGHTS TOO MUCH FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL IN HOME OPENER

NORTH CANTON, OHIO-  The Walsh University Women's Basketball team hosted the Knights from Gannon in their home opener on Saturday in Alumni Arena. The previously schedule Sunday game was moved to North Canton in avoidance of winter weather moving through Pennsylvania. The Knights were too much for the Cavaliers as they fell 83-77. A late push in the final minutes of the game helped the Cavaliers to close the gap, but their efforts fell short.

FOR THE CAVALIERS:
  • Freshmen Kylie Dyrlund led the Cavaliers in total points with 18. Her collegiate best game to date, Dyrlund also pulled down 7 rebounds and had 2 steals. 
  • Fifth year standout Lexie Scarton tallied 16 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist for the Cavs. Scarton was 5-7 from the free throw line.
  • Morgan McMillen paced the Cavs with 14 points and 11 rebounds. McMillen also added 1 steal and 4 assists.
  • Lauren Galaska was 5-7 from the field and totalled 12 points. Galaska would also contrbute 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal for the Cavs.
  • The women shot just 40% from the field and scored 18 points off of forced turnovers from the Knights.
FOR THE KNIGHTS:
  • Samantha Pirosko and Maddy Wheatley led the Knights with 16 points a piece. 
  • Pirosko pulled down 9 rebounds as the team leader.
The maroon and gold head to Detroit for the Warrior Holiday Tournament to take on Saginaw Valley State and Wayne State on Tuesday(Nov. 22) and Wednesday(Nov. 23).
