UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON- The Walsh University Men's Cross Country team has closed out their Fall season at the NCAA DII National Championships with an 18th place team finish. Course conditions and weather didn't lend to an easy day to run but the Cavalier crew dug deep and tied their best team record to date.
Zach Kreft and
Nathan Moore both are heading back to North Canton as All-Americans after their outstanding performance on Friday.
The University of Notre Dame transfer has been nothing but solid for the Cavaliers this Fall. With multiple wins on the season, including taking home titles at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA DII Midwest Regional Championship, Kreft has solidified his name on the wall of exceptional runners to wear Walsh on their chest. Kreft took home fourth place on Friday at Nationals after finishing the 10,000 meter race with a run time of 29:53.6, the highest place finisher at Nationals for the Cavs, ever. His performance broke the school record in the 10k and makes him Walsh Men's Cross Country's first All-American. The USTFCCCA Midwest Region Athlete of the Year led his team to an 18th place finish overall, tying last year's National performance.
Nathan Moore also closed out his Fall season as an All-American at the National meet, making him Walsh's second All-American in program history. A steady runner for the Cavs since he arrived on campus, Moore placed 40th overall against a National field, crossing the finish line at the 30:31.0 mark. Other runners competing for the Cavaliers were
Drew Roberts who finished in 148th place crossing the line at the 31:51.8 mark.
Julian Shrock placed 153rd crossing the line at 31:54.2, Mitchell Dunham placed 155th with a run time of 31:56.4,
Noah Graham talled a run time of 32:08.5 for a 171st place finish and rounding out the Cavalier lineup was
Evan Jarold placing 248th with a time of 34:26.9.Â
