Walsh Outlasts Findlay in Double OT Battle, 92-87

FINDLAY, Ohio - It may have taken two extra periods but the Walsh Cavaliers outlasted the Findlay Oilers on Tuesday (Feb. 15) night at Niekamp Arena. Walsh erased a 14-point first half deficit and used an 11-0 run in the second half to power back into the game, a 92-87 win over the Oilers. The double overtime affair was the first two overtime game for the Cavaliers since January 30, 2018 against Ohio Dominican. With the win, Walsh improved to 17-6 overall and 12-4 in the conference - now in a first-place tie with Ashland. Tuesday's game saw 13 ties and 12 lead changes. 

FOR THE CAVALIERS

  • Garrison Keeslar tallied a game-high 35 points - the highest point total since February 9th, 2019 for a single game. Keeslar made nine-of-23 shots, four-of-11 from deep and 13-of-17 at the free throw line. He grabbed eight rebounds, dished out eight assists and had three takeaways. 
  • Caleb Canter had 19 points on nine-of-13 shooting with one free throw. Canter tied Keeslar and Zakai Alexander with eight rebounds. 
  • Darryl Straughter hit four three pointers in an 12-point effort. 
  • Zakai Alexander came off the bench and added 12 points and eight rebounds. 
  • Owen Hazelbaker scored eight points with four assists in 33 minutes off the bench. 
  • Walsh shot 41.9% (31-74) from the floor, along with 353.% (12-34) from beyond the arc and they converted 72% of their free throw attempts (18-25).

FOR THE OILERS

  • Nathan Bruns gave the Oilers 24 points, 16 rebounds and four assists while Anthony Masterlasco scored 23 points on eight field goals and six free throws. 
  • Tre'Maine Gray finished with 16 points for Findlay.
  • The Oilers shots 32-of-68 overall, a 47.1% clip but only shot 29.3% (7-24) from three-point land. 
  • Findlay won the rebounding battle 45-43 but Walsh had the higher offensive total with 12 to eight.

Walsh will head to Ashland for a first-place battle on Thursday (Feb. 17) at 7:30 PM.
