WOOSTER, OHIO- The Walsh University Cross Country teams kicked off their 2022 season at the non-scoring Wooster Invitational/NCAC Preview this evening. The race was run on L.C Boles Memorial Golf Course. The men's cross country team was tabbed as this years overall favorite in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference pre-season poll. The Women's team was chosen second overall in their pre-season polls.
FOR THE CAVALIER MEN:
- Anthony Toskin crossed the tape with the fastest time for the men's 4m race. Toskin cleared the finish line at the 21:21.6 mark helping him secure the champion title for the season opener.
- Seth Macura was the next Cavalier to cross the line with a time of 21:43.4.
- Macura's time was enough to land in the fifth spot overall for the race.
- Teammate Logan Ison, was right on Macura's heels with a time of 21:45.4 and a sixth place finish for the Cavs.
- Alex Keller was the last Cav to stay under the 22:00 mark with his time of 21:57.1 and placed in the top ten of the field.
FOR THE CAVALIER WOMEN:
- For the women's 4k race, Elly Heine placed second overall as she crossed the finish line with a time of 15:49.6.
- Fellow freshman teammate, Claire Rethman, was pacing right behind Heine as she posted a final time of 15:53.0 and locked in a third place finish.
- Natalie Boyden and Camryn Barker crossed the tape almost side by side with their times of 16:14.9 and 16:17.9
- Boyden and Barker placed in seventh and ninth place, respectively.
The Men & Women open conference play at Cedarville University September 16th for the All-Ohio Championship.
