ASHLAND, OH: The Walsh Softball team took on the Ashland Eagles on Friday. The double header was a crucial one as the conference season will soon be coming to a close. In game one, the Cavs got off to a quick start, scoring two runs right away. A big third inning, including two home runs from Ashland, was the difference as the Eagles captured game one with a score of 4-2. Game two was all Maroon and Gold through three innings. Walsh scored all their runs in the first through third innings. Ashland kept chipping away, staying in the game and even cutting it to one in the bottom of the seventh. An Eagle fly out to center field would confirm the win for the Cavs, resulting in a split double header on the afternoon.

FOR THE CAVS GAME 1

•  A double from Kaylee Nolte and a single from Riley Grimm helped the Cavs get off to a strong offensive start. Both hits scored the two runs for the game. 
• Sydney McKeever and Kaylee Nolte each had two hits a piece. 
• Jaelyn Peterson relieved Sarah Cantley in the third inning. Peterson allowed no runs and struck out three during her time in the circle. 

FOR THE CAVS GAME 2

• Kaylee Nolte stayed aggressive in game two, connecting on three hits with 1 RBI. 
• Kalin Kovach was 2/2 with three RBI's. She homered in back to back innings. 
• Sarah Moats added two hits and an RBI. 
• Leah Musall was 2/3. 
• Sara Gockenbach added another win to her 2023 record. She went 4.1 innings striking out four batters.
