HILLSDALE, MI AND PAINESVILLE, OH - Lots of baseball has been played in an extremely short amount of time for the Walsh Cavaliers. Cold weather in Michigan and a 15 inning outing vs Lake Erie has strained the Maroon and Gold but the show must go on. Over the weekend, in 30 degree temperatures, the Cavs split with the Chargers of Hillsdale. Walsh's lost two leads resulting in frustrating losses in the blustery weather.
Due to the Easter Break, the series vs the Lake Erie Storm was split in separate double headers over a span of two weeks. The Cavs took the first two games on April 12th. On Wednesday, April 26th, Walsh lost game one of the day, 6-4. Game two was a battle as it went to 15 innings. The total time was five hours and 15 minutes.
Zach Thompson entered the contest in the sixth inning and finished the game. In the nine innings that he threw, he recorded 17 strike outs and only allowed three hits. Walsh will be back on the field, with a short turnaround, on 4/28 in Northwood. The Timberwolves are currently leading the North Division and have a 20-4 record in the G-MAC.
