CHARLOTTE, NC: The first road game of the year lead to the first 2-0 start for Walsh Football since 2010. The Cavaliers jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter after Cam Hollobaugh intercepted Johnson C. Smith quarterback, Tyrell Jackson, and returned it 64 yards for a touchdown. This was just 1 of 5 total interceptions on the day for the Walsh defense. The maroon and gold took the 7-0 lead into the locker room, and they would not look back.
At the start of the fourth quarter the Cavaliers held on to a 7-3 lead thanks to some stellar play from the defense. A strip sack by Jesse Stevens that was recovered by Gordo Long set up the Walsh offense with great field position. Two plays later, quarterback TC Molk, ran it in for a touchdown from 23 yards out to give Walsh a 14-3 lead. After a JCSU touchdown to make it 14-9, the Cavs needed a few more stops to close it out. Cam Hollobaugh came through again for the defense with his second interception late in the game, which was enough to help seal the victory.
Following this victory, the Cavaliers will look to get their third win of the year as they head to Owensboro, Kentucky to face the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on September 16th at 7pm.
