CAVS FALL 2-1 AGAINST EAGLES

NORTH CANTON, OH - The Walsh University women's soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Ashland University in a hard-fought Great Midwest Athletic Conference match on Saturday evening at Larry Staudt Field. Despite a valiant effort and a late surge, the Cavaliers couldn't overcome the Eagles' early lead. The match started with Ashland taking control, as Hope Evans found the back of the net in the 32nd minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Ashland doubled their advantage in the 66th minute when Merrik Mihalek scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Walsh showed great determination in the final minutes of the match. Katie Norris breathed life into the Cavaliers' comeback hopes with a goal in the 84th minute, cutting Ashland's lead to 2-1. Despite outshooting their opponents 6-3 in the second half, Walsh couldn't find the equalizer in the closing moments. The match was physical throughout, with Walsh committing 9 fouls to Ashland's 7. The Cavaliers were unable to capitalize on any set pieces, as Ashland held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.
