NORTH CANTON, OH - The Walsh University Cavaliers (1-2, 0-0 G-MAC) secured their first victory of the season with a convincing 90-78 win over Kent State-Tuscarawas (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The game saw the Cavaliers overcome a halftime deficit to dominate the second half.
Walsh's offense was led by an outstanding performance from
Kobe Mitchell, who poured in 30 points, including seven 3-pointers. Mitchell's sharpshooting was complemented by
Matthew Biddell's efficient 17 points off the bench.
The Cavaliers struggled early, trailing 40-36 at halftime. However, they found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring Kent State-Tuscarawas 54-38 to secure the victory. Walsh's improved shooting was key to their comeback, as they shot 53.85% from the field and an impressive 56.25% from beyond the arc in the second half.
Aiden Satterfield and
Zack Oddo dominated the glass for Walsh, recording double-doubles with 15 points and 13 rebounds, and 9 points and 11 rebounds, respectively.
Quintero Barnett contributed across the board with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
For Kent State-Tuscarawas, Kyle Shockley led the scoring with 23 points, while Ethan Bower added 17 points, including five 3-pointers.
