CAVS SECURE HARD-FOUGHT VICTORY OVER THE CARDINALS

NORTH CANTON, OH: In a thrilling non-conference basketball face-off at Alumni Arena, the Walsh University Cavaliers managed a commendable comeback to defeat the Saginaw Valley Cardinals with a final score of 64-58. The game proved to be a showcase of resilience and tactical prowess, giving the Cavaliers a significant boost in their season record, now standing at 4-2.

The first half was a nail-biter, concluding with Walsh trailing by just one point, at 26-27. However, the Cavaliers, driven by standout performances from several players, overcame this minor setback to triumph. Izzy Callaway led the scoring charge with an impressive 17 points, alongside her contributions of one rebound and one steal. Emma Dretke was not far behind, contributing significantly with 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks that were crucial in the later stages of the game. Supporting roles from players like Sami Kim, Alycia Triplett, and others were equally important, each adding their flair to this intense match-up.

The game was marked by multiple lead changes, with Walsh finally taking the upper hand in the closing minutes. Noteworthy performances by Callaway and Dretke were pivotal in this victory, displaying the depth and resilience in the Cavaliers roster. 

Looking forward, the Cavaliers are preparing to host the Cedarville Yellow Jackets at Alumni Arena on December 5th. This will be the Maroon and Gold's first conference opponent.
