TIFFIN AND FINDLAY, OH: The Walsh University Volleyball Team faced a challenging weekend on the road, splitting their matches against Tiffin University and the University of Findlay. The Cavaliers showcased their resilience and skill, but ultimately fell short against a strong Findlay squad.
On Friday night in Tiffin, Walsh emerged victorious in a hard-fought four-set match (25-22, 25-21, 27-29, 25-18).
Sydney Dixon led the offensive charge with 14 kills, while
Sammie DiBease and
Hannah Shaw each contributed 12.
Jayme Zoeckler orchestrated the offense masterfully with 48 assists, and
Arora Levengood anchored the defense with an impressive 27 digs. The Cavaliers hit a solid .249 for the match, outpacing Tiffin's .169.
However, the Cavaliers couldn't maintain their momentum on Saturday afternoon in Findlay. Despite a valiant effort, Walsh fell in straight sets to the Oilers (14-25, 22-25, 20-25). Dixon again led the team with 12 kills, followed closely by DiBease with 10.
Addie Burick stepped up with 17 assists, while Levengood continued her defensive prowess with 17 digs. The Cavaliers struggled against Findlay's potent offense, hitting .191 compared to Findlay's .298.
These results bring Walsh's record to 15-10 overall and 8-4 in the G-MAC, keeping them in strong contention in the conference. The Cavaliers will look to bounce back in their upcoming home matches, aiming to finish the regular season on a high note before the conference tournament.
