WALSH FOOTBALL GETS HISTORIC WIN OVER ASHLAND

NORTH CANTON, OH -  In a thrilling Salute to Service Game, the Walsh University Cavaliers (5-5, 4-4) achieved a historic milestone by defeating the G-MAC leaders Ashland University (7-3, 7-1) with a score of 24-10 on Saturday afternoon at Larry Staudt Field. This victory marked Walsh's first win over Ashland in school history, showcasing the Cavaliers' resilience and determination while honoring veterans and active military members in attendance.

Quarterback T.C. Molk led the charge with a near-perfect performance, completing 19 of 22 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns. His accuracy and big-play ability were on full display, particularly in the fourth quarter when he connected with Garrett Waite for a 91-yard touchdown pass, followed by an 83-yard strike to Trey Martin that sealed the victory.

The game remained tight until the final quarter, with Walsh holding a slim 10-7 lead at halftime. Ashland managed to tie the game at 10-10 in the third quarter, but the Cavaliers' offense exploded in the fourth, outscoring the Eagles 14-0 to secure the win.

Walsh's defense played a crucial role in containing Ashland's usually potent offense. Led by Cam Hollobaugh's 11 tackles, and a huge forced fumble by Rocco Iacino, the Cavaliers held the Eagles to just 258 total yards. Ty Miller also had a standout performance with 9 tackles and 3 pass breakups, disrupting Ashland's passing game throughout the contest.

On the ground, Walsh's running game was led by Jake Gill, who rushed for 54 yards on 15 carries. While the rushing attack didn't produce any touchdowns, it provided enough balance to keep Ashland's defense honest and open up opportunities in the passing game.

The receiving corps for Walsh had a field day, with Trey Martin leading the way with 6 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown. Garrett Waite added 5 receptions for 101 yards and a score, showcasing the depth and talent of the Cavaliers' passing attack.

This victory was particularly sweet for Walsh, coming off a tough loss to Findlay the previous week. The team's ability to bounce back and upset the conference leaders demonstrated their resilience and potential as they look to finish the season strong. Additionally, this game coincided with Senior Day, allowing teammates to honor their graduating seniors with a huge win in front of family and friends.

Looking ahead, Walsh will face Northwood University next Saturday, November 16th, in Midland, MI. This matchup will be another critical test as they aim to build on their momentum from this impressive victory and finish the season strong.
