MENS BASKETBALL GETS WIN OVER CARNEGIE MELLON

NORTH CANTON, OH - The Walsh University Cavaliers showcased their strength on the court, defeating the Carnegie Mellon Tartans 84-53 in a non-conference matchup at Alumni Arena on December 30th. This victory improved Walsh's record to 5-4 overall, while Carnegie Mellon fell to 7-3 overall.

The Cavaliers started strong, taking a 35-25 lead into halftime. They continued to build on their momentum in the second half, outscoring the Tartans 49-28 to secure a decisive win.

Ayden Carter led Walsh with a standout performance, scoring 17 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Zack Oddo contributed significantly with 16 points and 15 rebounds, achieving a double-double. Aiden Satterfield added 10 points and provided solid defensive play.

Carnegie Mellon's Buckley DeJardin was the leading scorer for his team with 14 points, while R.J. Holmes and Justin Allen each chipped in with 10 points. Despite their efforts, the Tartans struggled against Walsh's high-powered offense.

Walsh's shooting was impressive throughout the game, finishing with a field goal percentage of 48.6% and an outstanding free throw percentage of 83.3%. The Cavaliers' ability to convert from the charity stripe (10 of 12) played a crucial role in their victory.

Looking ahead, Walsh will face Thomas More University on January 2nd in Crestview Hills, KY at 7:30 P.M., followed by a matchup against Kentucky Wesleyan College on January 4th in Owensboro, KY at 3:15 P.M. Both games will be critical as they continue their Great Midwest Athletic Conference schedule.
