CAVS FALL TO THOMAS MORE

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY - The Walsh University Cavaliers faced a challenging matchup against the Thomas More University Saints, falling 75-57 in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game at Connor Convocation Center on January 2nd. This defeat brought Walsh's record to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while Thomas More improved to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the G-MAC.

The Cavaliers struggled to find their rhythm early in the game, trailing 38-22 at halftime. Despite a stronger second half performance, where they outscored the Saints 35-37, Walsh was unable to close the gap and secure a comeback.

Ayden Carter led the way for Walsh with an impressive 26 points, shooting 10-of-21 from the field and contributing 4 rebounds. Zack Oddo added 11 points and provided solid rebounding support with 7 boards. Aiden Satterfield chipped in with 8 points, but the Cavaliers faced difficulties in maintaining consistent offensive pressure throughout the game.

Thomas More's Kai Simpson was a standout performer for the Saints, scoring 18 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, while Casey George contributed 14 points. The Saints' efficient shooting (49.2% from the field) and strong rebounding (38 total rebounds compared to Walsh's 27) proved to be decisive factors in their victory.

Walsh's shooting percentage improved in the second half, finishing the game at 41.1%, but they struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 3 of 19 three-point attempts. The Cavaliers will need to regroup as they look to build on their strengths and address their weaknesses moving forward.

Looking ahead, Walsh will look to improve as they prepare for their next game against Kentucky Wesleyan College on January 4th at Owensboro, KY at 3:15 P.M. This matchup will be an important opportunity for Walsh to get back on track in conference play.
