ASHLAND, OH: Things are heating up for the Walsh Men's Basketball team, right at the perfect time. With a close race in the G-MAC standings, the Maroon and Gold got a huge win over the Ashland University Eagles Thursday night. Avenging a December 2nd home loss, the Cavs have now won four in a row, all being key conference games. Currently, Walsh sits in first place with the points rating system, with Ashland and Cedarville close behind.
In this exciting, rivalry, match up, there were 23 total lead changes. Normal scorers,
Kobe Mitchell and
Garrison Keeslar only had 2 points at the break but that lull in scoring was made up by
Milan Square. Square finished with 19 points which tied for top scoring honors in the game.
In a back and fourth battle, the Cavs found themselves with a 5 point lead with five minutes to play. A quick 7-0 run by the Eagles was of no help with 3:08 remaining. With three seconds to play,
Zack Oddo hit a three pointer to give the Cavs a 59-57 advantage. Two
Kobe Mitchell foul shots would seal the important win for the Cavs.
The Men will look to secure their 5th win in a row over Malone in the Mayor's Cup on Saturday. Tip off is set for 3pm.
