CHARLESTON, WV: The Walsh Softball team kicked off their 2024 season this weekend with a double header in West Virginia against 20
th ranked University of Charleston. The Cavs found themselves down 5 after the first inning of game 1 as the Golden Eagles came out swinging. Walsh's offense struggled to get going with only five hits for the game. The Cavs would go on to lose the opener by a final score of 8-0. Game 2 started off much differently for Walsh. They found themselves up 4-1 after the 3
rd inning because of an RBI single from
Sarah Moats followed by an RBI double from
Madi Russo. Charleston answered back with a 4-run inning of their own in the fourth to take the lead. They would go onto take game 2 by a final of 5-4.
The Cavs will travel to Evansville, Indiana next Saturday for a 12 PM game against Quincy University.
